29 CFR 1910.134

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has established a General Industry Respiratory Protection Standard.

The standard states that your first goal should be to prevent Atmospheric Contamination. When this is not feasible, the standard requires the use of appropriate respirators that will keep the employee exposure below permissible limits.

OSHA Standard Compliance

In order to be in compliance you the employer must do the following:

Identify airborne hazards
Select the proper respiratory protection
Determine how the respirator will be used, cleaned, maintained and stored
Provide medical evaluations for employees
Document who must wear respirators and where they must be worn
Train employees in respiratory protection
Document your respiratory protection program
